Patient involvement in research

PPI

BIOREME have been working with our partners Asthma and Lung UK since 2022 to ensure our research priorities are driven by those with lived experience of lung conditions. In spring 2022, we attended an expert patient panel ran by Asthma and Lung UK to receive feedback on our public facing video animation to ensure the language and content was accessible to patients and the general public. Their input was invaluable and you can watch the final video here.

In Summer 2022, we held a series of focus groups aligned to our research themes. Facilitated by colleagues at Asthma and Lung UK, patients were invited to share their experiences. There were some key themes that emerged from these focus groups:

  • Personalised care

  • Self-management

  • Over medication and long term impacts

  • Medication side effects

Colleagues at A+L UK have since developed a survey to capture wider patient input on the themes that emerged in the small patient focus groups. The information generated in the wider patient survey will enable us to align our research priorities with those of patients.

This survey is currently live until the 18 June 2023, and can be completed here. Please do share widely with your relevant networks.

We look forward to sharing the outcome with you in Autumn 2023.
