Title: Exploring the use of home oscillometry in COPD: Effect of indoor air pollution
Abstract: Oscillometry is becoming more familiar to clinicians as a user-friendly tool to measure pulmonary function. One advantage of oscillometry is that it can be done portably from home to allow for more real-world and real-time monitoring. We have recently completed a pilot study using oscillometry to measure the effects of indoor air pollution in patients with COPD who heat their homes with wood. These results, plus a brief review of the literature, provide support for the future use of oscillometry at home to help us understand disease and improve care of our patients.
