New improvements to our funding calls
We have made some exciting changes to two of our funding calls, summarised below. Further information and full guidance can be found on the BIOREME Fellowship Funding Call page and the Small Starter Grants page.
Fellowship funding call
We have extended the deadline for this call as we are making more funding available to support an Early Career Researcher for a longer duration and at a more competitive rate. We expect the funding to support an 18-month project (rather than 12 month as per the earlier calls). The successful applicant will also receive funding for travel and sustenance to support conference attendance and strengthening/ building collaborations.
This call is aimed at supporting Early Career Researchers towards independent research careers by developing their own research proposal with support from a mentor. Research proposals must align with BIOREME’s research remit and fall within biophysical/ mechanistic modelling of respiratory diseases.
Key dates
Extended Application deadline: 6 October 2023
Peer review/ panel meetings: Late October 2023
Funding decision: November 2023
Start date: Jan 2024 onwards
Small Starter Grant
Our Small Starter grant will now be ran as a responsive call i.e. there submission deadlines and applications will be reviewed within 6 weeks of submission. We hope this will help you to align the funding with your activities. We have also increased the maximum you can apply for to £1000, and we aim to be flexible depending on the activity and demand. We anticipate these grants will run until early 2025.
These grants are aimed at supporting you to:
Undertake an activity that supports a research collaboration which will facilitate future grant development
Disseminate biophysical modelling research to diverse research communities eg. Presenting modelling research at a respiratory conference
Eligible activities include, but are not limited to, presenting at conferences, visiting research groups, visiting project partners, presenting at conferences, attending or organising a scientific meeting or workshop.
